Prime Day Can Go a Long Way (for others)

Ah, Prime Day. The 36-hour long Retail shopping fest exclusively for millions of Prime members, that only the behemoth that is Amazon could pull off. Our smartphones, emails, browsers, and social media channels are all bombarded by Prime Day ads. Live stream cooking demonstrations, beauty tips, even gaming demos abound for the shopper to easily take advantage and add to cart.

On the one hand, who doesn’t love a great deal? Yet, there’s just something that feels excessively over-the-top materialistic about Prime Day.

A Little Bit of Gratitude Goes a Long Way

Thanksgiving: the day that we come together with family and friends to give thanks for what we have and share it with the people we care about.

It’s a tad bit ironic that the Thanksgiving holiday is also the beginning of the holiday shopping season when we stock up on huge amounts of stuff, right after expressing gratitude for the things we already have. And it’s just 4 months away…

This Prime Day, we’d like to suggest an idea that’s a little revolutionary: consider using your Prime Day purchases to gift someone with something they really need.

Maybe a family member or close friend could use a new set of dishes, but they don’t have the money for that right now. Maybe a former colleague recently lost their job – how about sending them a gift card for a new suit or business outfit for interviews?

Did someone in your community recently have a baby? Send them a gift basket or a couple packages of diapers.

A little bit of gratitude for what you already have can go a long way to help others.
